Krakatoa vs. Saxx

"Long post, stick with me. Boxers in middle school, junk grew, boxer briefs in high school, graduated and got a taste for the finer things. When I got my own “real” job I started buying Under Armour underwear and I thought they were awesome. Eventually I graduated to Saxx, I’ve been buying them for the last ~8 years I’ve sunk about $4k into their underwear. I’ve been tired of paying their prices so I wanted to venture out to another brand, I tried Shinesty and they were okay, good for the price, but not super comfortable. Tried Stance, not comfortable at all. Tried some other brand that you put your whole junk in a hole and it was awful. Then I found Krakatoa and I bought one pair, and immediately fell in love with them, I’ve had them for a couple of weeks and basically made my girlfriend wash them every night so I can wear them the next day, I’m about 12 washes or so in and they’re holding up great. So I ordered two of the 3-packs and I won’t ever look back. TL;DR These are the only underwear I’ll ever buy again"

"These are hands down the best boxers I've ever had. I have 20+ pairs of saxx and the standard pair you offer gives me more support then saxx separators. Will be purchasing more."

"Bought for my son! He LOVES them. Says they are better than SAXX and he LOVED them!!"

"They are great. I have been wearingSaxxbut I think I will be ordering more of these."

"Saw ads all over Instagram and tried these. Love them and want to get more. Better than Saxx!"

"The boys were truly supported by a cloud of luxury! Goodbye Saxx, bought another pair of Krakatoa’s finest."

"I am a former ExOfficio customer. Krakatoa is my new choice. They are very comfortable and quick dry faster than ExOfficio and Saxx."

"Fantastic underwear. I was a SAXX guy in the past, but Krakatoa is far superior in comfort and appearance. Perfect fix and super comfortable."

"Loving them. I’ve been wearing Saxx and Bn3th underwear and thought these might be comparable. They are actually more comfortable, which is hard to believe."

"My boyfriend loves these! Even more than hisSaxx. If you got a man that doesn’t fit in the standard sized pouch get him these! He will love them!"

"Love them. Fits to the listed sizing. Most comfortable briefs ever. Way better than tommy John, Saxx, or me undies. Way more flattering of a look than them too!"

"I have worn Saxx for 5 yrs, these are more comfortable because the material doesn’t give way and need adjustment. These ride in the same place all day so I will buy them in the future."

"These are my favorite boxer briefs - I also own Saxx and TommyJohn, which I also enjoy wearing, but the Pinatubo's fit best, stay in place, have the right inseam length, and have the best waistband."

"Ok, so I've tried many pairs...Saxx, David Archy, BN3TH, jockey, 2xist and more. This fabric is perfect for me. Soft....super soft, and fits great and room for the boys. Highly suggest you getting these."

"They’re by far the best pair of underwear I’ve worn. I am a big fan of Saxx but these are even better. The close knit fabric doesn’t catch my leg hairs randomly and stays cool all day."

"I have tried at least 3 other intentionally designed underwear brands, including the ever popular SAXX. KRAKATOA is the only one to wear well over time. Both in terms of durability AND continued support. The waistband has yet to stretch out (over a year later) and the support pouch works exactly as advertised! SAXX worked initially, but the support “fins” that hold you centered stretched over time losing their effectiveness and creating chafing. Just ordered another weeks worth of KRAKATOAS and have full confidence they will be just as awesome as last year’s purchase!"

"I ordered this underwear on a whim to try something new. After trying them out I ordered 13 pairs. I have thrown out all my old under armour, MK, Calvin's, and Saxx. This is better than commando. I absolutely LOVE this!"

"I’ve tried saxx and initially thought they were great at isolating or separating everything from your legs comfortably but these out performed them in my opinion. I bought 7 more pairs of varying styles after these and they are all equally fantastic!"

"These boxers are the most comfortable and best feeling boxers I’ve ever had! I’ve tried some of the best like TJ and Saxx, had a variety of materials and design and these Anti-gravity Krakatoa's top them all imo, quality, comfort and feel is unbelievable!!"

"I have worn, Lulu, Tommy John, Saxx, and many other big name underwear. I can honestly say these Krakatoa are the best and it’s not even close. Soft as butter, fit to perfection, attractive design, and legs stay put!! Real winner in my book!"

"My recent order from the Vesuvius collection (Trunk & Briefs) is my first experience with the Krakatoa Product. They are fantastic. The cut is perfect and the material is ultra premium. Far superior to T-Bo and Saxx. Will be buying more. Launch the Multipack soon Krakatoa!!"

"Wow, these are the most comfortable pairs of underwear that I have owned. I have been a Obviously, Daluth, Saxx type guy. I am gonna be throwing them all away now. When Alex says it feels like you are naked that is no lie. Love the new line.."

"I have tried underwear from Step One, Swag, Saxx, David Archy, Pair of Thieves, Shinesty, Crown Jewels, 32 Degrees, Mr. Davis, and Wild South. The Krakatoa fabric and design fit me very well and the waistband does not roll, which is a huge plus. The Krakatoas are my first choice!"

"So I bought 2 pairs of the trunks and 2 of the boxer briefs and after just 3 days of wearing them I must say I am blown away with comfort!!! I have been a saxx wearer for years and these are far superior to those. The fabric, the pouch and overall quality exceeds my expectations. I will be placing another order soon."

"I was skeptical at first because I like wearing underwear that has the dividers in them, like Saxx, 2undr, etc... I dont like the boys touching my legs. I thought I would try them out anyway. I am glad I did. They are super soft and keep the package nice and tucked away from my legs. I will be getting more!"

"I have tried every brand from underarmour to saxx to thieves to Nike to even lulu lemon! on and on…none are even close to the comfort and support of Krakatoa. Ordered 1 of each type to test and I was so pleased that I just ordered 5 pair of thongs and 5 of 7 inch briefs…my underwear drawer is about to get renovated!"

"I've been experimenting with different brands of boxers that offer a pouch for quite some time. I've tried Saxx, All Citizens, Shinesty, Ben3ath, and more, and each of these usually starts out with me liking their product but eventually the pouch becomes a source of frustration. With Shinesty the material gets stretchy and less soft, with All Citizens the boxer is thick and the pouch winds up chaffing that which shouldn't be chafed. Saxx and Ben3ath simply don't have great quality for the price. Krakatoa is super comfortable, the pouch is seamless and cradles your junk without strangling it and I don't have to worry about using them for different activities. I've worked out in them, golfed, gone to work and drinks, travelled, and they're always comfortable. They're priced higher than the other ones so I was reluctant but am happy with the purchase."

"I have been on a quest for the best underwear. I tried Saxx, and they were initially good but they loosened up and now I don’t wear them. I also tried 2under. Very similar to Saxx, but they do hold up better. However, pocket is too small. Next up was Aswemove. I’m not sure how to describe these. Maybe like pantyhose for men? They are comfortable, but there isn’t much to them. Finally, I tried Krakatoa. These are without a doubt the best. They have the best pocket, they are comfortable and they hold up and feel the same weeks later. Make sure to check your size as their Medium is most other companies large. I do wish they made a size between the truck and boxer brief. I found the trunks a little short for me, and I would like the boxers a little shorter."

"I’ve tried numerous underwear over the years that promised different things. I saw the Krakatoa ad on FaceBook and thought this probably just another gimmick trying to get my money. I thought for $17 I’ll give it a try. Well, I was pleasantly surprised!!! Everything the ad on FB said was true. Way better fit, feel and quality than my Saxx and Tommy John’s. I’ll be placing an order for many more!!!!"

Krakatoa vs. Manmade

"Fantastic! You don’t even know your wearing them they are so comfortable. I compared these toManMadeand Krakatoa wins. Krakatoa is breathable and better fitting. I see many more pairs of Krakatoa in my future."

"I’ve tried Saxx,Manmade, Shinesty and All Citizens and these are hands down the the best underwear I’ve tried. I bought one of each and quickly made the decision to make Krakatoa my go to. I’ve already recommended to friends and would do so for anyone else out there looking for the softest material and best separation without all of the extra fabric."

"These blew me away. I’m 5’6” and about 260 and have thunder thighs. Been looking my for better underwear and was content with puma boxer briefs. I originally bought boxers from ManMade thinking they were amazing before hand and an ad popped to try these for about 15 bucks shipped so I said “why not?”. These completely blew the ManMade ones out of the water. The comfort, support, cooling, are awesome. No constant adjusting or the boys getting stuck to my thighs. Just ordered another 7 and I couldn’t be happier. Yes they are pricey, but they are totally worth it."

"I love the material and the length of these boxers! The pouch also does a great job separating me from my thighs, actually a little better than the Saxx boxers I recently bought. My only two complaints are that Im not a big fan if the waistband design, and the pouch sizing is a little confusing between pairs. For example, I like the pouch size and waistband design on the Pinatubo boxers, but I prefer the stealthfly on the Visuvius. I wish each type could maybe come with a pouch size option that makes it a better fit for every guy. Other than that, I can make them work and so far they might be the best pouch-style underwear I’ve had if they continue to hold up. For reference, I’ve tried Saxx, Manmade, TommyJohn and BN3TH."

"These feel great! I tried the Anti Gravity & they were comfortable, but the pouch was a little more snug than I like. So I went with the Halaekala because of the 4" pouch. Perfect! Not tight but not baggie. I would say that these are for the so called average guy unless you want the tighter fit pouch of the Anti Gravity or Pinatubo. I found that after about 6 wash & wear cycles that they all take their final shape & fit. I went by the size guidelines & its pretty close to my old boxer briefs. I also tried the ones fromManmade& put them through the same test, but Krakatoa is alot better! I wear them for 10-12 hours a day at a factory as a maintenance worker & they dont stretch out through the day."

Krakatoa vs. MeUndies

"I've been trying to get away from MeUndies and I think I may have found my solution! Krakatoas are comfortable and I really like them for running."

"I've tried many of the rest including a few year MeUndies subscription. I bought the $10 trail pair and absolutely love them so I've bought 6 more. 🤙😎"

"I was skeptical of the pouch, but the boys & I are surprisingly pleased with the Pinatubos... So much so that I bought 3 more pair! I even scrapped MeUndies . Love 'em!"

"I've tried them all: Tommy John, Mack Weldon, Duluth, Pair of Thieves, MeUndies, Fabletics and more... and there's nothing out there like Krakatoa. They do incredible things for my junk. I'll be buying more."

"I love this underwear. I used Meundies for years but over time they just didn’t feel as comfortable as when I had first gotten them. I originally bought the trial pair of Krakatoa underwear and I’ve purchased multiple pairs since. These are the only brand I wear now. I like the added room in the pouch, makes a huge difference in comfort"

"I’m a bigger guy and have a lot of issues with chaffing on my thighs and was tired of being in pain, so I looked up the most comfortable underwear on google and began buying single pairs to find the best option. I tried culprit, meundies, Duluth and several others. I ended up landing on Saxx and loved em, but an ad for u guys popped up and thought I’d give em a try. Holy crap these are THE MOST COMFORTABLE UNDERWEAR IVE EVER OWNED. I’ll be buying more soon. Thanks so much"

"I’ve been through MeUndies, 2undr, Duluth, Calvin Klein, American Eagle, this random brand called b.wr (I got it because it was bamboo). So yeah I’m very picky about the fabric, fit, and feel of what I’m wearing, a Facebook ad of all things is how I found out about Krakatoa. The design of the underwear really peaked my interest, I found out that there’s a lot of other men that were saying the same exact thing I was saying about what they want in underwear so I decided to try them. The fabric, fit, and feel is amazing the comfort really kind of blew me away in a way I haven’t experienced before and these were only the briefs. It’s hard to explain man, they’re very dang nice comfy. Can’t wait until I get some boxer briefs and trunk style, I’m pretty sure I’m Krakatoa for the foreseeable future!"

"These are so soft, comfy, and supportive in all the right ways. I have NEVER been a fly user, but the top-fly design has converted me. And, because of the fly, there is plenty of space and a supportive cradle for the nuts and bolt, which is a hard balance to strike. I've also never had a pair of underwear that doesn't fold in the band. I've had love handles as long as I can remember and came to accept that rolling bands were just a fact of life. I'm pleased to report that this band DOES NOT ROLL, which makes me so happy and makes them that much more comfortable to wear. My only complaint is that the leg can ride up a little bit, but I have huge thighs so there isn't much in this physical realm that can stop that. That's why I got trunks, they can only ride up so much. Overall, really love these. Got my first pair and couldn't wait to purchase a week's worth and throw out my worn out old Meundies. Hope they last a long time!"

"I don't usually do reviews, but I'm making an exception. These just might be the best underwear I've ever worn, and I don't say that lightly. I've been through several brands, and every model of Krakatoa boxer briefs and trunks. The Krakatoa have been head and shoulders above Tommy John, MeUndies, and the others that I really liked. Even though not every model was my cup of tea, I still have them and wear them. However, the Vesuvius are a different experience altogether. I'll go from least important to most important (to me) features. First, I love the seamless hems. I sometimes wear skinny jeans, chinos, or dress pants, and there's nothing more annoying than showing the world you are wearing boxer briefs. There's far less of a chance of that with these hems. Second, the redesign fly. Oddly enough, I was never much of a fly guy. I just always went over the waistband, because something about popping through the fly was never comfortable to me. I've tried the horizontal fly with Krakatoa and another brand, but was unimpressed, and frankly highly annoyed at the periscope effect. For my anatomy, it was extremely frustrating. The new fly fixes that issue entirely, and I'm now using it, rather than going over the waistband. Third, and most important, the pouch! I don't know how best to verbalize it, but it's amazing! The seams are flatter, and somehow I am cupped and cradled more comfortably than ever before. Now... I should add... I am an over-50 small-frame work-from-home guy. There's not a lot of jostling going on in my life. I might wear something different if I ever decide to start working out again. But for my lifestyle, I can't imagine a better design. If Vesuvius ever came without a fly, I might give those a try as well, since that would reduce the fabric in the front a tiny bit. But that's just my curiosity talking, not an issue of any kind. Final comment: These are a must try!"

"As a human with male genitalia, I have been searching for the perfect underwear for the past 10 years. My quest has probably led me to spend a few hundred dollars a year on the next product I thought was going to be the perfect pair. I have tried all the major department store brands, Calvin Klein, Tommy John, Mack Weldon, MeUndies, David Archy, Saxx, and many variations of "pouch underwear". With that said, Alex here at Krakatoa has really hit the mark - I've found my perfect pair of underwear. This underwear addresses two of my biggest underwear pet peeves. my giblets NEVER stick to my thighs in this underwear, and I get NO thigh rubbing whatsoever. The generous front pouch provides ample room and blissfully cradles your giblets. The seam around the pouch is actually U-shaped, meaning it's one contiguous seam that dips down one side, loops around your taint, and comes back up the other side. This U-shape provides a very subtle lift to your giblets and keeps them nestled very comfortably in the pouch area. Many other underwear do not have this U-shaped design, they will have a seam on either side that runs down to the taint and terminate there. Additionally, the 7-inch length is more than ample to prevent thigh rubbing. I was initially off-put that the 7-inch boxer brief was the only option for length. However, after a few wears and the fabric is a little looser and broken in, there is some natural "creep" up the leg (no rolling!!), so after a day of wear and doing some squats at the gym the in-seam probably sits closer to 5 inches on my body. The micromodal/spandex blend is very luxurious and soft. I usually only exercise in Polyester/Spandex blend boxer briefs because the moisture wick so well, but Krakatoa says you can work out in these undies so I've tried and I'm tolerating it but the moisture-wicking isn't as good as polyester/spandex. Again, Thank you Alex for designing such a perfect pair of boxer briefs. I wish you and your company all the success in the world. My suggestions for Krakatoa: - Consider different fabrics, particularly Polyester/Spandex blend as a sport/exercise performance boxer brief. I would buy the hell out of these. - I've also tried the trunks and found the legs way too short, they're nearly non-existent. They might as well be briefs?"

Krakatoa vs. Mack Weldon

"I got sick and tired of my MackWeldon trunks wearing out and the waistbands flipping and not staying put; not to mention how pricey the MackWeldon brand has become. I'm very happy with my Krakatoa trunks! They are supremely soft and comfortable because of the MicroModal design. I forget that I'm actually wearing underwear!"

"I’ve tried Tommy John and MackWeldon, neither cut the mustard. The waist band always rolls on TJ. Both made my junk stick to my leg. Not so with Krakatoa! These feel great and provide the extra room needed! Throwing all my other underwear out!"

"These are the best underwear I have bought in a while! Soft, light, natural materials, plenty of room (I have bigger legs and butt which typically take room from the front). No discomfort with these when standing, sitting, working out etc… This is my third order as I replace my other underwear (MackWeldon, Lulu, David Archy)."

"For years I was a CK guy. Later I switched to MackWeldon - and liked them, but they did not last long. I have tried several newer brands; Ethika (I like the art), Mr. Davis (really nice). Then I tried Krakatoa and they became my instant favorites; great look, perfect waistband and the softest cloth ever."

"I've been wearing MackWeldon for the past few years and needed to make a switch. After trying several brands I gave Krakatoa a try. Absolutely perfect! So comfortable. The waistband doesn't roll over. The fabric is so soft. After several washes there is no change. I will be buying more and hope they can begin offering more colors and looks."

"Ive bought a lot of underwear over the years. Been wearing MackWeldon for years, but these have the best pouch bar none. These allow your package the ability to move around without being fenced in like those with the wing flaps inside. They are super soft and fit like a glove. They do tend to ride a little lower on your hips, but after a day they felt fine. The only negative is they need additional colors, other than that, you won't go wrong."

"In order of excellence, I’ve worn (all boxer briefs) MackWeldon, Shinesty , Crossfly , and Krakatoa . Not only does Krakatoa has the best fabric and ergonomics/fit of the bunch, their fabric is the softest, most supportive, and most substantial. Fly-wise: while their fly isn’t as easy to use as the best-in-fly-class CrossFly, it’s lowest on my underwear priority list as it gets used the least. Support-wise: this fabric is all-day supportive and bests the others by staying that way all day. Breathability: Somehow, even though its fabric is most substantial, the mesh knit keeps me all-day cool. Waist bands: They all claim to be “no-fold,” but Krakatoa does it best with the most comfort it’s near impossible to have it stay folded over and yet it’s still incredibly soft and pliable. There’s gotta be some black magic in this band. Ball pouches: the best ball pouch award goes to Crossfly as it has enough fabric in just the right places to separate what needs separated without ever having to re-adjust. Shinesty’s is too floppy and small to keep my boys separated from my thighs. Their most touted feature is their worst feature, but they’re still better than standard boxer briefs. My intro pair of Krakatoa lacks a dedicated ball pouch, but it still keeps my boys separate because they actually stitch the briefs so that the entire front panel surrounds your boys without any gimmick! The advantage to that is you don’t have to “deposit” your boys into a sack every time you go to the bathroom. Overall, Krakatoa hits my preferred high points and doesn’t leave any low points."
